Welcome to Kindergarten!
The day has come, and you’ve made it! I can’t wait for another great year of Kindergarten! I cannot wait to have your child in my room and show them all the things that I love about Kindergarten and school and to watch them truly grow and bloom while they are in my classroom. Gretna Elementary is a fantastic school with such a caring staff and community. We are here to support you and your child this year.
Here are some quick notes and dates that you will want to take a look at:
· We will have an Open House on Tuesday, August 8th from 5-7 p.m. Please bring all of your child’s school supplies at this time, it will be less to worry about on the first day. Here is the supply list if you need to look it over again.
· The start time for school each morning is 7:55am, with the tardy bell ringing at 8:05am. Students can arrive as early as 7:40, they must wait in the lunchroom until 7:55. Dismissal is at 3:05. Kindergarten Loop kids will be dismissed at 2:55. Please use this google form to read about dismissal options and to let me know what your plans are for the year.
• Arrival on the first day is different than any other day. On the first day of school, August 10th, you may drop your child off in the room and take pictures. However, on Friday, it is best (even though hard to do), to give them a quick kiss and hug, remind them that you will be back, and head out the door. The longer you linger, the harder it can be on both of you. There may be some tears, but please know that your child is in the best care! Starting the week of August 14th, the students will wait in the lunch room until the bell rings at 7:55.
• Mark your calendar! Curriculum Night is on Thursday, August 24th . I will be going over information regarding the kindergarten year at this meeting. More information will be coming soon.
• School Pictures will be on Thursday, August 31st.
I believe that good communication between home and school is key for a successful school year. I will be reaching out in a few different ways (phone calls, emails, weekly newsletters, Seesaw Learning app, parent teacher conferences and my website). Please reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns or information you think I need to know. My email is [email protected]. The school phone number is 402- 332-3341. My website is Ms. Boeselager’s Class.
I hope you and your child have had a fun and relaxing summer. I can’t wait to part of this new journey with you. Your child will grow so much this year, in ways you will never even imagine they will. I can’t wait to get the year started!!
Sincerely,
Ms. Stephanie Boeselager

- Your child will have several lunch choices this year. They can bring a lunch box from home or they can have a lunch from the cafeteria. If they chose a school lunch they will have three options: hot lunch choice, sandwich choice or yogurt and cheese option. For the first few weeks the Kindergarten kids are only given the hot or yogurt and cheese options. After Labor Day, we will add in the sandwiches. School lunches this year will be $3.23. Each family has a lunch account. You can find information about lunch accounts, menus, etc. at this website.
